Plover Wisconsin Homes for Sale
Plover, Wisconsin, is a suburb of Stevens Point, making it a popular city for University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students and their families, as well as others who want access to a larger city without living directly inside. As of 2010, Plover was home to about 12,000 people.
Plover was originally a village, founded in 1845. From 1845-1868, it was the county seat for Portage. In 1868, the county seat was moved to Stevens Point and the original village dissolved. Government fell to the Town of Plover, until it was incorporated as a Stevens Point village again in 1912. The village dissolved yet again in 1931. Plover has remained a suburb of Stevens Point since then, with another incorporation attempt failing in 1965.
Plover, Wisconsin was home to many household names such as Dennis Hall, World Champion Wrestler and Olympic Medalist and Joe Pavelski NHL player for the San Hose Sharks.
