Rome Wisconsin: A Gorgeous Environment

Rome is known as a small town with a big view. Many Rome homes overlook large, pristine lakes, and the area boasts several well-kept areas for walking, biking, and other outdoor activities. Rome has some of Wisconsin’s best lakes for swimming, boating, fishing, and many other water sports: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Camelot, Lake Sherwood and Lake Petenwell, the  second largest lake in Wisconsin.

Golf Courses in Rome Wisconsin

Amateur and advanced golfers can take their pick of several beautiful golf courses including the Lake Arrowhead Association. The Lake Arrowhead Association (LAA) is a 2,000 member homeowners association where members, families, guests and the community can enjoy spectacular facilities throughout the year. Their diverse community boasts two of the Midwest's best public, award-winning golf courses, a 300-acre lake, and beautiful amenities you and your family can enjoy. Lake Arrowhead offers the perfect mix of recreation and relaxation.

New to the Rome Wisconsin Golf Community is the Sand Valley Golf Resort. The first course Sand Valley by Coore & Crenshaw is scheduled to open May 2nd, 2017, and a second course by David Kidd is soon to follow. Sand Valley Golf Resort will soon host 2 world-class golf courses with lodging and amenities that offer relaxed comfort and excellent service. Situated on over 1700 acres of massive, tumbling sand dunes, Sand Valley is a one of a kind golf course in the Central Wisconsin area.

Endless Recreation Opportunities

If you prefer a slightly grittier sport like motocross or motorcycling, the Dyracuse Recreational Park should be at the top of your to do list! This 334 acre motorcycle and ATV park is open from early April until the last weekend in October. There is a pee wee track, a motorcross track, supercross track and over 10 miles of trails.

Rome also has several shooting ranges in the area, including the brand new WTA Shooting Complex and Learning Center. This facility sits on 280 acres of forest land in the Town of Rome, WI. There are 30 trap fields that offer a wide variety of trapshooting experiences. There is American style trapshooting as well as an Olympic bunker for international-style trapshooting.

If skiing is more up your alley, the Tri-Norse Ski Club provides plenty of opportunities for you and your family. They have K5, K10, K22 and K53 jumps. They also have 6 miles of cross country skiing and snowshoeing paths for your winter enjoyment.

Our Culture

You don’t have to be an outdoorsy person to enjoy Rome. The town features the Lester Public Library. It includes a children’s area with a wide selection of books and games, as well as a Lego play area, thanks to a local family. Rome residents and visitors are encouraged to donate to the library, especially to the children’s area, by asking about the Library Wish List.

Art and gardening lovers will find plenty to do at the Rome Farmers Market. The market comes to Alpine Business Park off State Highway 13 every Friday. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., regardless of weather, and sells food and a colorful array of plants and flowers. Crafters Day is the last Friday of each month; crafters are encouraged to bring wares to sell.

Do you have a flair for the dramatic? If so, investigate the Home Town Rome Players, which include dancing and acting troupes. The Home Town Rome Players has been a fixture since 2009, when they performed its first Mystery Dinner Theater. The players regularly give back to the community, participating in fundraisers and performing for nursing home residents and veterans.

Unique Sports Opportunities

When you think of sports, you probably think of baseball, football, and basketball. Rome offers opportunities in these and other sports, as well as pickleball. If you’ve never played it, pickleball is a combination of tennis, table tennis, and badminton. Rome recently opened its own pickleball club.
